One of my all time favourite guys has been awarded the TED Prize for his efforts in doing what he loves.
NEW YORK, Dec. 21 -- Jamie Oliver, celebrity chef and standard-bearer in the fight against obesity and other diet related issues, has been announced as the recipient of the 2010 TED Prize, an award granting recipients $100,000 and something much bigger - an opportunity to realize a wish to change the world. I think a lesson that I will come to learn this year is that you really should be doing WHAT YOU LOVE TO DO. In a world where we spend so much of our time WORKING and in front of computer screens - even more so if you're a graphic designer (I'm trying to break away from this btw) it is so important do what you love and doing it the way you love doing it - whatever that might be. And if we can get awarded along the way for doing the things that we love - although I'm sure at times, it drives us mad, why the hell not get awarded. To be recognised for the work you have done by your peers and critics is very motivating. And after all the best awards I suppose are the ones that you didn't apply for.
