B ist für Berlin - Travel Guides

I'm the kind of gal that likes to do a little prep work before I go anywhere. Travel guides are an obvious choice for any traveller to orientate themselves with locations and must-sees. Take them along as your trusty companion - they'll come in handy for both your planned day trips or taking the spontaneous route of sights less travelled. Here are my picks:

Lonely Planet Travel Guides - I'm currently reading the Germany Travel Guide cover to cover. I think it's better to get a general impression of a country, plus you can plan trips else where. Packed with maps, locations, times, costs, insider tips, reviews and detailed itineraries - this one is a must for any traveller. I bit heavy, but it'll be on my person at all times. See a mini PDF version here. Berlin Encounters give you "gives you twice the city in half the time. This pared-down number is ideal for quick trips - it's less accommodation, more neighbourhood highlights and the best of local knowledge."

I've always been a sucker for Moleskine And I really like their City Notebook collection. It's a much more personal approach that lets you gives you spaces to fill your journey as you go. Scribble down useful info and journal your special experiences and memories.

This one's for the designers :) Wallpaper* City guides offer "a tightly edited, discreetly packaged list of the best a location has to offer the design conscious traveller... A precise, informative, insider’s checklist of all you need to know about the world’s most intoxicating cities." Plus you can get it in your iPhone I need that! :)

And last but not least... prefer Lonely Planet on your iPhone? "All the top sights plus where to eat, sleep, shop and go out, researched and road-tested by our team of authors. We'll show you how to get to the heart of the city, avoid the tourist traps and make the most of your precious vacation time."

Happy reading.
